The Product BIS is built on
the following features and characteristics:
- BIS is a distinct and new Business Service: It differs from the more
conventional ones like entrepreneurship training, business consultancies,
etc.
- Integrated and driven by private providers of Business Services:
It builds on already existing competencies by adding a new business
line - BIS.
- Financially viable: BIS can be made sustainable by buying, adding
value and selling information, therefore commercial practices are established
and encouraged.
- Demand driven and focused on value chains: BIS is driven by the demand
for information from business partners and supporting agencies in value
chains, i.e. producers, manufacturers, traders, providers of business
services, etc.
- Based on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) : ICT is
the most effective tool to store, process, and transport any type of
information at high speed to any location.
- "Win-Win" information networks through info sharing: BIS
brings about information exchange between previously isolated actors,
for example, between buyers and sellers. It can also improve public-private
alliances and partnerships.
- Modular and scalable: BIS can be individually tailored to suit different
region-specific framework conditions and resources.
- High entry cost to the market: BIS is opening a new market segment,
i.e. a marketplace for information. So far, private companies are reluctant
to invest in BIS, as there still is a wide gap between high investment
and returns.
- Replicable: BIS can be implemented in other Asian countries and regions.
